Plant Care Guide
Welcome to the Mossara Farms Care Page!
We believe plants thrive best when given the right balance of light, water, and love. Whether you’re a beginner or a collector, this guide will help you keep your plants healthy, vibrant, and long-lasting.
Light Requirements
Bright, Indirect Light – Most tropical plants (Philodendrons, Monsteras, Alocasias, Calatheas) thrive near a window with filtered light. Direct sunlight can scorch their leaves.
Low-Light Friendly Plants – ZZ Plants, Snake Plants, and Parlor Palms are perfect for offices or shaded corners.
Direct Sun Lovers – Succulents and cacti (like Jade Plants, Aloe, or White Ghost Cactus) need several hours of direct sunlight daily.
Watering Tips
General Rule: Water when the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry.
Overwatering Warning: Yellowing leaves or soggy soil usually mean too much water. Always use pots with drainage holes.
Humidity Needs: Plants like Calatheas, Ferns, and Alocasias love humidity. Mist them occasionally or place them near a humidifier.
Succulents & Cacti: Allow soil to dry out completely before watering again.
Soil & Repotting
Use well-draining soil mixes for most tropical plants.
For succulents & cacti: sandy, fast-draining soil is best.
Repot every 12–18 months or when roots start outgrowing the pot. Always choose a pot 2–3 cm larger in diameter.
Fertilizing
During the growing season (spring & summer), feed plants every 2–4 weeks with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer.
In fall & winter, reduce or pause feeding as plants naturally slow their growth.
Specialty plants (e.g., orchids, succulents) may require specific fertilizers — check our product pages for detailed instructions.
Pet Safety
Some plants are toxic to cats and dogs. For a safe home, explore our Pet-Safe Collection, featuring Calatheas, Peperomias, Hoyas, and Palms. If unsure, always place plants out of pets’ reach.
Seasonal Care
Winter (Cold Weather): Keep plants away from heaters or drafty windows. Water less frequently.
Summer (Hot Weather): Increase watering and misting to prevent leaf dryness.
Spring & Autumn: Ideal seasons for repotting, fertilizing, and pruning.
Common Problems & Solutions
Yellow Leaves → Overwatering or poor drainage. Check soil moisture.
Brown Leaf Tips → Low humidity or tap water sensitivity. Use filtered water and mist often.
Drooping Leaves → Underwatering or too much direct sunlight. Adjust conditions.
Pests (e.g., spider mites, aphids) → Wipe leaves with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
